Webinar: Use of geomembranes

Georgetown, S.C. — Thanks to their unique properties and long service life, geosynthetics have proliferated in the construction business across environmental and civil applications to encompass nearly every type of project from landfill closures to municipal water supply. Despite their ubiquity, geosynthetics differ greatly in strength, flexibility, and overall composition depending on its manufacturing process. They can be hardened and made into large-diameter pipes, or even spread into sheets with built-in studs to facilitate the flow of fluids. Some differences are by choice, designed to meet the needs of a specific application. Other differences are economical, meant to save money on the assembly line.

The speaker, Nick Rauh, has a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. He started his career working as a project engineer for a geosynthetics installation and general contracting company and has since been working as a technical manager for AGRU America in the Mountain/Midwest region, as well as providing technical support for the mining market. Rauh has extensive knowledge in the geosynthetics industry, from project design through installation procedures.
