Watertown, Mass. — VHB is expanding services in Georgia to meet the needs of the growing Atlanta metro area. Effective May 22, 2017, VHB acquired McGee Partners, an Atlanta-based transportation engineering firm. McGee Partners will operate as VHB.

President and CEO Mike Carragher said, “Joining with McGee Partners is part of the long-term growth strategy that VHB has put in place in our major metro areas. We are dedicated to the Atlanta market and see great opportunity and growth in this region. McGee’s impressive team of engineers and local knowledge is the perfect complement to our strong environmental and transportation systems teams in Atlanta — we’re evolving to serve Georgia better.”

VHB has served the southeast region for more than 30 years and established its location in Atlanta in 2015 providing transportation planning as part of its merger with GMB. VHB expanded its Atlanta team in late 2015, adding environmental services with the acquisition of GT Hill Planners.

Georgia clients include GDOT, MARTA, the Atlanta Regional Commission, and numerous local governments. Representative VHB projects in Georgia include the City of Atlanta Comprehensive Transportation Plan Update, where VHB’s team is working to set a long-term vision and implement actions to build a world-class, sustainable transportation system in Atlanta; and an On-call Environmental Services contract for GDOT.

McGee Partners was founded in 2002 and provides transportation engineering services from offices in Atlanta and Buford. Together with McGee Partners, VHB is poised to provide a full array of services and take on increasingly complex challenges as the trend toward growth in Atlanta continues.

“We join forces with a shared commitment to make meaningful contributions to improve mobility, while balancing development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship,” said Southeast Regional Manager, Dave Mulholland. “We were drawn to McGee Partners because of our history of working with their Atlanta-based leadership and their strong emphasis on improving our communities.”

As part of this acquisition, founding partners of McGee Partners, Thomas (Tommy) Crochet, PE, PTOE, and Jill Hodges, PE, will join VHB as Principals. The two firms will consolidate their Atlanta teams in a new location at 1355 Peachtree Street in Atlanta in the coming weeks. The Buford team will remain in its current location.

Tommy Crochet, who served as McGee Partners President said, “Our team is delighted to join a company that shares our core values of quality, reliability and integrity. This is an exciting time — we look forward to offering broader services and depth of talent to our clients from our new home at VHB.”
