Modjeski and Masters announced its selection for the rehabilitation of two vertical-lift bridges over the Erie Canal, built between 1911 and 1915, from the New York State Department of Transportation.
Two winning proposals from the Reimagine the Canals Competition have been selected, including a proposal to build new neighborhoods along the Erie Canal, as well as a multi-day festival that would highlight the Canal and New York's booming craft-beverage industry.
New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the state will hold a global competition to find the best ideas to re-imagine the New York State Canal System so it becomes an engine for economic growth upstate as well as a world-class tourist destination. The competition, to be run by the New York Power Authority and New York State Canal Corporation, will award up to $2.5 million to develop and implement the winning ideas.
