LAN to manage $62 million school bond program

Houston — Stafford Municipal School District, the only municipal school district in Texas, selected Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) as the program manager for its $62 million bond program. The District’s “Bond 2017” was overwhelmingly approved by voters last November. The program’s projects will address growth at Stafford MSD, which currently holds more than 3,600 students. The bond program will include:

  • A new middle school (grades 6-through-8) building for 850 students with a cafetorium, library and gymnasium.
  • A new grades 3-12 magnet school for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) – the only one of its kind in Fort Bend County.
  • A new administration building, including a visitor’s center
  • Re-purposing the current administration building into a community center
  • An educational plaza
  • Early Childhood Center, starting with classes for three-year old kids.

As program manager, LAN will oversee construction of the new middle school and administration building, and miscellaneous site improvements across the campus. LAN’s services will include scope development, design review, construction procurement and administration, scheduling and estimating, bidding and negotiations, budgeting, quality assurance and construction management, among others.

“We are excited to be working with Stafford municipal school district on this important program. We look forward to maintaining the beautiful campus aesthetic while enhancing the way education is delivered for years to come,” said JP Grom, AIA, LAN’s vice president.
