Jenell Fairman joins Indiana Structural Engineers Association board of directors

Indianapolis — Jenell Fairman, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, HCC, senior project manager at CORE Planning Strategies, Indianapolis, has joined the board of the Indiana Structural Engineers Association (the Indiana organization of the National Council of Structural Engineers Association) as a director. Fairman is first woman to be named to the local board.

Fairman has more than 20 years of experience in engineering design, project management and construction administration. A member of ISEA since its founding in 2003, Fairman regularly attends the organization’s annual spring conference and is the first woman to serve on the board.

“There’s a need for more women leaders in the design and construction industry,” Fairman said. “I look forward to engaging a wider group of members to participate in this important association, and I hope my presence on the board helps inspire other women to take on leadership roles in their professional organizations.”

“Jenell has made tremendous contributions by promoting the success of women in structural engineering through mentoring and professional involvement,” said ISEA founding member, Rod McComas, P.E., S.E., SECB, president, McComas Engineering. “I look forward to seeing the impacts of her leadership on the ISEA board.”

“When I met Jenell at a the ISEA conference 8 years ago, she made me feel welcomed into the structural engineering community and introduced me to other women in the industry I could network with and learn from,” said Laura Barnes, P.E., staff engineer, Lynch, Harrison & Brumleve, Inc. “Her knowledge, experience and leadership in ISEA will benefit the association as well as current and future members of the organization.”
