IES Honored by Greenbang for building performance analysis software

Boston – Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), a provider of integrated performance analysis software and consulting services for sustainable building design, today announced it has been highly commended in the Buildings category of the 2011 Greenbang Efficiency Awards. Honored for its building performance analysis software, IES enables the development of truly sustainable, low-energy buildings from the earliest stages of the architectural design process.

In 2010, Greenbang introduced the awards program to honor the top efficiency-building technologies, projects, people and companies. Now in their second year, Greenbang’s awards recognize leaders in data center technology, cloud computing, buildings, resource management and more.

Several built environment market drivers are influencing the need for performance analysis, including the increased use of green rating systems and the requirement to quantify, justify and optimize design decisions in a sustainable way. IES helps to meet these market needs by delivering a measurable understanding of the impact of different strategies on energy consumption and other environmental metrics. Taking into consideration climate, use, design and system operation, IES’ software allows designers to test the feasibility of different energy-saving strategies and new technologies. It also allows quantification of savings against targets, and measurement and verification for operational optimization.

“Our goal with the awards program is to showcase global sustainability leaders, and we believe we’ve found a true leader in IES,” said Shirley Siluk, managing editor of Greenbang. “Market needs today require an understanding of whole-building performance, one which takes into account the surrounding environment and all of the physical interactions that take place within a building. This is what IES’ building performance simulation offers.”

“For almost two decades, we’ve been pushing the ethos of integrated design and incorporation of performance analysis as the way to achieve energy-efficient buildings. Today, we’re working at the leading edge of building science, investigating how analysis plays a vital role in delivering measurable sustainability,” said Dr. Don McLean, founder and CEO of IES. “We are proud to receive this honor, and we look forward to helping architects design and analyse product ranges, regulatory systems, buildings or entire communities and eco-cities for years to come.”
