EXP’s Montreal office achieves LEED certification

Montreal, Quebec — EXP announced that its office in Montreal, Quebec, received the LEED Canada Commercial Interiors certification from Canada’s Green Building Council (CaGBC). This is the second LEED-certified EXP office in Quebec, and the fourth in North America.

LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that an office has been designed and built using strategies and materials that benefit key areas of human and environmental health.

The plans to LEED certify the Montreal office began in April 2016, ahead of the workplace’s move to 1001 Boulevard De Maisonneuve Ouest. EXP now occupies three floors in the centrally located building.

“As LEED certification experts, it’s important for us to show the same dedication we have for our clients to our own offices and employees,” explains Pietro Guerra, Director of Mechanical, Electrical and Sustainable Buildings for the Montreal region. “Where appropriate, we integrate the highest environmental standards into our projects, and we want to be an example of what’s possible.”

EXP earned LEED points in many categories, notably for being located close to numerous public transit access points (metro stations and bus stops) and bike paths, energy optimization, Energy Star certified electronics, availability of showers on every floor, a recycling program, and reusing 67 percent of the furniture from the previous office.
