Dewberry issued limited services agreement for new multimodal industrial park

Fairfax, Va. — The North Carolina Global TransPark Authority (NCGTP) hired Dewberry to prepare a strategic business plan for the 2,500-acre, state-owned multimodal industrial park, which was presented to the North Carolina Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee in April.

The firm conducted market analysis and strategic repositioning, assessed infrastructure needs for improved market viability, and developed a market-driven action plan to guide future growth and job-creation opportunities for the industrial park and the surrounding area.

Work also included outreach to North Carolina’s transportation, commerce, and agriculture departments as well as economic developers, regional planning organizations, Class 1 railroads and the facility shortline operator, and private industry.

Recommendations include improved transportation and land-use planning; enhanced access for air cargo, rail, and highway transport; and connection to nearby deep-water, international ports.

“The Global TransPark is an incredible investment for North Carolina,” said Dewberry Project Manager and Director of Ports and Intermodal Rachel Vandenberg, PE. “As the state works toward improving the transportation network regionally, we’re excited to help lay the groundwork for those developments.”

NCGTP is expected to provide increased economic opportunity for the state, including jobs and business recruitment and development.
