CS Hub at MIT announces concrete freeze-thaw webinar

Cambridge, Mass. — The CSHub at MIT is hosting a webinar to discuss the role of air entrainment in improving freeze-thaw performance of concrete.  The one-hour webinar will be held on Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. Eastern.

The webinar will explore a “degree of saturation” concept in predicting the time to saturation for freeze-thaw damage and for predicting the time to corrosion for concrete exposed to deicing salts. The underlying concepts discussed in the webinar, along with the methods to model field inputs are consistent with the new AASHTO PP-84-17 approach being considered by many states.

This webinar will be presented by CSHub collaborator Jason Weiss, Ph.D., the Miles Lowell and Margaret Watt Edwards Distinguished Chair in Engineering and the Director of the Kiewit Center for Infrastructure and Transportation Research at Oregon State University.

The MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub (CSHub) webinar series offers information of general interest to members of the building, paving, and construction communities, as well as to educators, students, journalists, and law and policy-makers interested in the environmental and economic impacts of decision-making concerning infrastructure. Webinars are free and open to the public. Presentations are geared toward a lay audience.
