CH2M, Merrick, USACE Huntsville Center to provide design services for missile defense program

Huntsville, Ala. — The Huntsville Center, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) selected the CH2M-Merrick Joint Venture for design services in support of the Missile Defense Agency’s Ballistic Missile Defense Program throughout the contiguous U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories and Possessions and other installations.

“We’re honored to partner with the Huntsville Center as it returns to its historic ballistic missile defense mission, advancing all aspects of our national security – from design studies to services during construction,” said CH2M USACE Account Manager Stephen Browning.

CH2M, as the majority partner of the Joint Venture, will deliver a variety of services related to pre-design engineering studies and design of tactical and tactical support facilities for missile defense weapons systems, such as:

Preparing design criteria, architectural and engineering designs, specifications, design-related analyses and studies, economic analyses and cost estimates for missile launch, test and evaluation, administrative and training facilities.

Conducting environmental documentation, permits, special studies and other environmental activities as required by federal, state and local laws and regulations, feasibility studies, other studies, geotechnical investigations and topographical mapping services, programmatic support services, manuals, as-built drawings and engineering and design support during construction.

Additionally, the CH2M-Merrick JV will work with the Center on electronic and physical security design, including antiterrorism protection and design to protect facilities against chemical, biological and radiological threats.

CH2M’s history with USACE spans more than 20 years and includes similar projects such as integrated air and missile defense system design for the Middle East District in Qatar and power plant and radar facility upgrades at the Alaska District’s Clear Air Force Station.
