Balfour Beatty announces U.S. leadership changes

London — Balfour Beatty announced two internal promotions to its U.S. Executive Leadership team. Leon Blondin will take up the role of CEO of the U.S. Buildings Operations while John Rempe will assume the role of President and CEO of the U.S. Civils Operations.

Blondin, having been with Balfour Beatty since 2001, has been promoted from Chief Operating Officer of the Mid-Atlantic Buildings Operations. Having successfully worked on projects in over 30 states he has secured more than $10 billion of new work for Balfour Beatty.

With 36 years of experience within the Heavy Civil Construction industry, Rempe has served 24 of those years with Balfour Beatty. Most recently, Rempe served as the U.S. Civils Operations Chief Operating Officer since June 2016. Rempe has overseen multiple, multi-million-dollar projects as Southwest Region Vice President and Regional Manager.

Both Blondin and Rempe will report directly to Balfour Beatty Group CEO, Leo Quinn.

Further to these promotions, the following leadership upgrades have also taken place across the U.S.: Eric Stenman has been promoted to President of Balfour Beatty’s U.S. Buildings Operations from his previous role as Chief Operating Offering of the West Coast Buildings Operations in California, Arizona, Oregon and Washington. In his new role he will support Leon Blondin in the management of the U.S. Buildings Operations including shared service groups of Information Technology, Risk Management, Human Resources and Legal.

Mike Phillips has been promoted to serve as President of the company’s Buildings Operations in the Mid-Atlantic, continuing his 31-year career with Balfour Beatty; Pleas Mitchell has been promoted to President of Balfour Beatty’s Buildings Operations in Texas furthering his 28 year career at Balfour Beatty; and Leslee Mallinson, having been with Balfour Beatty since 2000, will take up the role of Vice President of Communications for Balfour Beatty in the United States, joining the US Executive Leadership team to deliver strategic communications advise and brand management.
