ASTM International to host June workshop on Interface/Direct Shear Testing

Conshohocken, Pa. — The ASTM International committee on geosynthetics (D35) is sponsoring the Workshop on Performance and Interpretation of Interface/Direct Shear Testing, June 27, 2018, at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. The workshop will take place in conjunction with the April standards development meetings of the committee.

The workshop will provide a forum to shed light on the critical issues contributing to the proper performance of laboratory testing and subsequent interpretation of test results using existing ASTM International standards.

Focus will be placed on defining the state-of-the-practice in performance of these tests and control and selection of the many variables involved. Test specimen configuration and measurement parameters employed will be discussed in the context of subsequent interpretation of test results and use of resulting measurements in slope stability design.

Registration questions can be directed to Tessa Sulkes (symposia@astm.org). For technical questions, contact workshop chairman Sam Allen (sallen@tri-env.com), or co-chair Gary Torosian (gtt@geotestin.com).
