Intelligent transportation in the Motor City


    The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) announced that it will hold its 2018 Annual Meeting at Detroit’s COBO Center, June 4-7. The four-day program, themed “Transportation 2.0,” will include speakers from across the ITS industry focused on topics such as automation, connected vehicles, and cyber security, as well as educational sessions and presentations on the future of mobility, and cutting-edge technology exhibits and demonstrations. The event organizing committee is chaired by Bob Murphy of AECOM.

    “We are thrilled to return to Detroit in 2018,” said ITS America President and CEO Shailen Bhatt. “As intelligent transportation systems and connected and autonomous vehicles are poised to dramatically alter the transportation landscape, ITS America welcomes thought leaders in transportation, technology, and cybersecurity to discuss the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”

    The 2018 Call for Papers and Sessions for the annual meeting closes March 1, 2018. The event’s programming committee, led by Matt Smith of Michael Baker International, is considering educational sessions and papers that focus specifically on:

    • Connectivity, Autonomy, and the Future of Transportation and Transport;

    • Electrification and Infrastructure;

    • Regulatory and Financial Challenges Related to the Deployment of

       ITS Technologies;

    • Cybersecurity — Privacy Opportunities and Challenges;

    • Transportation Systems Operations; and

    • The Impacts & Opportunities of Big Data.
